Getting Started with Kadence AI in WordPress

To begin, a new WordPress site is needed, which can be obtained from any WordPress hosting and domain service such as Liquid Web. After the WordPress site is up and running, access the dashboard to begin customization using the Kadence AI.

First, log in to the WordPress dashboard. Take a look at the site to view the current theme (2024). Hover the mouse over “Appearance” and select “Themes”.

To add a new theme, select the “Add New Theme” button and search for “Kadence”. Kadence is a popular theme and usually appears among the top themes. To install, click the install button. After installation, activate the theme by clicking the “Activate” button.

Once activated, a notification appears, “Thanks for choosing the Kadence theme,” prompting you to start with an AI-powered website. To use AI tools, install the AI starter templates by clicking the provided button. After installation, activate Cadence AI starter templates.

Connecting to Cadence AI

When adding a starter AI site, you’ll be directed to the Cadence website. Here, connect the website to a Cadence account. There are options to continue for free or purchase Cadence for full access to premium blocks and the entire design library.

The free version provides access to many features, but requires connecting a Cadence account to the website. If you don’t have one, create an account on their website. To create a Cadence account, enter an email address and password, then click the register button.

Verify the email address by entering the verification code sent to the provided email. After verifying, the Cadence account is successfully connected to the WordPress website.

After connecting, you’ll see a screen to describe the website to the AI. This setup wizard involves five steps: introduction, industry information, site details, photography, and a final step to suggest starter templates.

Using the Setup Wizard

The setup wizard begins with an introduction to Cadence AI, which is an AI-powered engine for creating websites. Click the next button to proceed to the industry information section where you can describe your business.

Input details such as company name (e.g., Healing Touch), location, and industry (e.g., Spa). For a digital marketing company, select the appropriate language and choose “company” under the “I am” section, then input the company name such as “Bridge digital”.

Specify the business address or select the “online only” option. Choose the industry; for example, “digital marketing agency”. The AI suggests various industries as you type, narrowing down options like “digital marketing agency,” “digital marketing consulting firm,” etc.

Click next to describe your business, highlighting its primary attributes and what differentiates it. There is a 1,000-character limit for the description. You can also improve your content using the “Improve with AI” button, and if satisfied, use the improved copy.

Keywords, Tone, and Images

Add specific keywords for your business; suggested keywords are provided, but you can type in your own. Choose a tone for your site’s content. Options include neutral, professional, friendly, informative, and more.

Select suggested featured and background images. You can specify an AI search collection or choose a specific industry. The media library allows you to add captions or remove images.

Once satisfied with the images, click “generate base content” to allow the AI to generate content and suggest starter templates based on your description.

Selecting and Customizing Starter Templates

The AI will suggest several templates. Some templates are only available in the Pro version. Choose from the available starter templates. Once you select a theme, you can change colors and fonts.

Customize the website’s style by adjusting the highlight color, background style (light or dark), saturation, and brightness. Select a font from the font tab. After finalizing fonts and colors, click the next button to proceed to the content tab.

In the content tab, the Home, About, and Contact pages are displayed. Deselect any pages you don’t want. Preview each page by hovering over the arrow. Options to import example blog posts and WooCommerce products are available.

Advanced settings allow you to import theme settings and footer widgets. Unless you’re an advanced user who wants to build from scratch, keep these enabled. Click next to choose plugins.

Choosing Plugins and Launching the Site

Select the plugins you want to install, such as Cadence blocks (required). If building a WooCommerce site, you can enable WooCommerce, GiveWP, Events Calendar, and others. The importer will install the selected plugins.

Once ready, click the “Finish and Launch” button. After the AI imports the starter site, you can click “See My Site” to view the website or go to the “My Pages” section to start building.

The imported website includes a logo, menu, social media links, and example text and images. To customize, change the images and text. The shop page may need to be removed from the menu if it wasn’t selected during content setup.

The About page includes testimonials and a welcome section, while the Contact page has contact information, a form, and FAQs. The Blog page displays example posts.

Customizing the Website

To customize the menu, go to “Appearance” and click on “Menus”. Edit the primary menu or create a new one. To remove a page, click the down arrow and select “Remove”. Save the menu after making changes.

To edit the header, click “Customize,” which will bring you to the customization menu. From there, click on “Header” to access the header builder. You can drag and drop elements such as the logo, navigation, socials, and buttons.

Elements can be placed in the top bar as well. To change the logo, click on it and select a logo from the media library or upload a file. You can also use Pixels to import images. Choose the logo layout, such as logo and title, logo only, or logo title and tagline.

The design tab allows you to change the search icon color and site title font. The footer can be customized similarly by clicking on “Footer”. You can build your footer by adding and customizing widgets using Gutenberg or Cadence blocks.

Adding and Editing Content with Cadence AI

To add your own content, click the “Edit Page” button. Change existing text or add more text. To use Cadence AI to suggest text, click the Cadence AI icon.

If disconnected, activate Cadence AI again. You can then ask Cadence AI to edit your text or choose options like “improve writing,” “fix spelling and grammar,” “make shorter,” etc. Select “Use this copy” to apply the suggested content.

To change an image, click on it and select “replace”. Upload an image, choose from the media library, or get an image from Pixels. After selecting an image, click the “Select” button to place it.

In the style tab, you can customize the image further. Experiment with mask settings, background color, borders, and border radius. Add more text by choosing the advanced text option and using Cadence AI for suggestions.

Utilizing the Design Library

The design Library feature helps create pages and sections faster. After customizing your website, click the “Update” button to save changes. To create a new page, go to Pages and click “Add New Page”.

Add a title to the page and use Gutenberg blocks or the design library to design the page. In the design library, you can choose “By Design” or “With AI”. Select patterns and choose a structure you like, such as a “teams” section.

Click on a design to import it with one click. After importing, click “Publish” to publish the page. If the section appears boxed in, edit the page and choose page settings.

Disable the page title and choose “full width” for the page layout. Click the “Update” button and view the page. You can easily change the images and text and improve them with AI.
